Bodo Wiegand, President

Dr. Bodo Wiegand heads the Lean Management Institut in Aachen, Germany, which he founded in 2003. The objective of the institute is to spread lean thinking in German-speaking countries and develop lean methods and approaches for new business fields.

With his background in economics and engineering, Wiegand served as managing director of two plants in the Thyssen group for several years before he founded the management consultancy proLean, Duesseldorf, which he continues to chair.

Wiegand has applied his lean management to numerous improvement projects and adapted from industry for the use in various branches and fields. He also has taken lean principles beyond manufacturing to such areas as service, administration, and maintenance.

He is the author of several books and articles about Lean Management, including the workbooks Lean Administration I + II and Lean Maintenance System, which are available in German and English.

8th Annual Lean Management Summit ›

Lean Management Institute to host the 8th Annual Lean Management Summit conference in Europe on the subject of Lean and with top-notch international speakers from academia and practice.

The days of the conference on 20 and 21 October will offer a series of prestigious lectures. We have respected speakers, who will speak not only about their successes but also about their obstacles and problems in implementing Lean. As a highlight, Prof. Daniel T. Jones, who will complete the first day with a lecture and panel discussion. In addition, moderating Daniel T. Jones and other well-known experts such as Dr. Bodo Wiegand Lean (LMI, D) or Dr. René Aernoudt (LMI, NL) discussions with participants in the Lean Management Summit. These sessions provide a platform to exchange opinions and experiences in the implementation of Lean methods and tools and their modes of action in the enterprise among experienced lean experts and learn from the practical examples of experienced lean experts.
